As an international student at USC Upstate, Anna Dechantsreiter found the university to be a perfect fit that not only led to completing her bachelor’s degree but also provided her with invaluable experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
Originally pursuing her bachelor’s degree through the double degree business program with partner university Hochschule Landshut, Anna found USC Upstate to be a welcoming and enriching environment.
The diverse community on campus exposed her to different perspectives and ways of doing business, while the top-notch business lectures helped sharpen her skills.
One of the highlights of her time at USC Upstate was her internship at BMW Manufacturing Co. LLC in Spartanburg. This internship, made possible by the skills and knowledge gained during her classes, allowed her to make a meaningful contribution to the team.
At BMW, she was treated as a valued member and had the opportunity to work on real projects alongside colleagues from diverse backgrounds, solidifying her passion for her field of study .
Reflecting on her time at USC Upstate, Anna advises other international students to be brave, network as much as possible, and step out of their comfort zones. Getting involved in activities outside of class, she believes, is key to feeling at home in a new environment.
While Anna’s time at USC Upstate has ended, she is grateful for the memories and experiences that will stay with her for a lifetime. Her journey from USC Upstate to BMW is a testament to the university’s commitment to providing students with the tools and opportunities they need to succeed, both academically and professionally.
