Engage Upstate would like to recognize the amazing work that our University 101 students have completed this semester!
Arranged by U101 Peer Leader Coordinator Amber Puckette, a showcase-style Celebration of Service was held on November 16th, 2023. Student Peer Leaders created poster boards to tell about their various service projects that are at the heart of University 101 classes.
Our special thanks go out to Amber for fostering the positive attitudes of our students toward service and for arranging the Celebration of Service for them to share their stories!
On the poster boards, students shared quotes about their service experience. Here are some of our favorites:
- “I felt very accomplished after this service project. I thought it was going to be hard, and not enjoyable, but I was wrong. It felt good to be able to help out.” – Student who served with SPACE
- “[My service experience] was definitely a night to remember. I want to do it again someday.” -Student who served at the Carolina Miracle League
- “[My favorite memory was] seeing some of the kids using a math trick I showed them on their own.” – Student who tutored at Hendrix Elementary School
Below are more pictures from the event, but even more photographs from the Celebration of Service can be found at USC Upstate’s official Flickr page here.
If you were at the event, you might see yourself in the album!
