On Thursday, Dr. Esther Godfrey joined us at the Greenway once again to support another productive day of removing invasives from the trail! <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, advisor Amber Puckette joined us for a late afternoon cleanup along with her class of tenacious University 101 students!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

University 101 students are typically freshman or sophomores, so it is exciting to think about the progress that these students will be able to see at the Greenway throughout their time at Upstate. We hope they will come back to visit!<\/p>\n<\/div>

October has been a busy month so far at the Greenway – the Friday cleanup marked the eighth <\/strong>October cleanup event and the last one of the month! To put this work into perspective, students have donated over 400 service hours <\/strong>to SPACE so far, with more to go!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It would take one person over sixteen days in a row without stopping<\/strong> to do the same work, which we know is impossible because of the human requirement of sleeping, eating, and other functions. Furthermore, due to the nature of the invasive species cleanup and removal, it is paramount to do the initial work in one large effort so that the plants do not get a chance to grow back — thus, this kind of work would be impossible <\/em>to do without the amazing cooperation and teamwork of the Engaging Green classes! One person would never be able to do it alone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are so proud of the work that the students and instructors have done so far at the Greenway, and we cannot wait to see the positive trajectory of the Chinquapin revitalization project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
