Service Engaged<\/summary>\n<p>A course that facilitates service as a project for students in which they engage in the service for at least 4 hours.&nbsp; Project is tied to classroom instruction and followed with meaningful reflection.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>CE &#8211; Community Engaged<\/summary>\n<p>A course that requires students to participate in 4 hours of community-related engagement (going to a community event, observing community meetings, et cetera) related to classroom instruction and followed with meaningful reflection.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<p><em>*expected hours based on a traditional 3 hour course<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Research demonstrates that SL\/CE courses yield high benefits for students including better graduation rates, higher GPAs, and increased satisfaction with college &#8211; all while building specific <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscupstate.edu\/faculty-staff\/faculty-tool-kit\/SLCE-instructor-resources\/service-slos\/\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-primary-color\">career readiness skills<\/mark><\/a> like critical thinking, leadership, professionalism and self-and career management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The benefits don&#8217;t stop there! Instructors report that SL\/CE courses result in more engaged students, increased satisfaction, and unique scholarship opportunities.
